Another delightful MTN carols night

The fourth MTN Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols started on time and it was a full house at the Accra International Conference Centre last Thursday, long before the magnificent El Dunamis Choir got everything underway.

The spectacle of popular artistes rendering Christmas carols has definitely helped  push the MTN carols night  up by many notches and the jostling for seats indicated how well the programme has come to be loved by the public.

If Christmas is really the time for giving, then MTN gave a worthy but intangible gift to the audience by ushering them into the Christmas mood with pleasant performances from  El Dunamis, Miriam, Ofie, K Bee, Cano Z, Okyeame Kwame, Koo Ntakara, Omane Acheampong, Kwaw Kese and Kwaku Gyasi.

They are all artistes with different outlooks which reflected in the way they all approached their tasks on stage.
Ofie,  for instance, is well-known for her good, clear jazz-oriented singing and it was obvious she was there to display that, even when she tackled a carol like Feliz Navidad.

Cano-Z also had pointed to how he cherished his Ewe roots during the second Hit-Maker contest and it was not a surprise that he  engaged a section of the audience to an agbadza dance.

Emcee Jessica Opare-Saforo steered affairs well and Dan Grahl’s Shabo Crew band were on point throughout the night.

Ivan Quashigah, whose Farmhouse company  produced the show, had promised an entertaining package and they were able to deliver just that.

By the time Kwaku Gyasi rounded off the programme by 10.15pm with a rousing praise and worship session, it could not be doubted that many in the audience were already looking forward to another MTN Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols next year.
