Ready for Media General challenge – Anita Akuffo

SHE may not have experience as a mainstream television presenter but new addition to the Media General family, Anita Akua Akuffo, says she is ready to take up the challenge and make a difference.

In an exclusive interview with Graphic Showbiz since her move to Media General was announced on Monday, January 20, Anita said she was willing to go the extra mile to bring success to her new home.

“I may not have been in the mainstream as a TV person considering how I started, but I am ready for the challenge. I am ready for this and I will not disappoint.

“I know it will not be easy but I am glad I have very good people around me who will help me grow, nurture my talent and become who I want to be,” she said.

Since last year, Media General has been ‘collecting’ some of the best presenters in the media space, but Anita said she was not scared of the ‘big fishes’. “I am not scared at all, rather I am excited that I will be working with all of them and I will learn. Media General is a huge platform,” she said.

Anita said the move was one she had wanted for a while now. “This step is a great one for me, it came at the right time. I have been praying for something like this so when it came I was really excited and I do not take it for granted,” she stated.

Talking about expectations on both sides, she explained that, “I have to work hard and get the brand and myself up there. Media General is not a small firm and I know they have experienced people who know what they are about. I believe with what they have, they will help me get to greater heights.”

Anita was absent from the media space for some parts of 2019 and she disclosed that an accident she was involved in made her step back.

“I had an accident and that slowed everything down, but I am back now. While I was away, I had a lot of questions about why I was missing, which was because I was not willing to let everything out but all is well now,” she said.

For now, Anita’s role has been kept under wraps, with Media General only saying she will be the host of a yet-to-be-launched talk show on TV3.

And while we wait for what’s coming, she asked her fans to continue supporting and showing her love.

“I want them to keep following me and giving me their love and support. Also, there is nothing to worry about; I am fine and a big thanks to them for being with me all this while,” she said.

Anita holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from the Ghana Institute of Journalism. Before joining Media General, she worked at GHOne TV as a news anchor and reporter.

She has hosted several events, including the prestigious Miss Malaika Ghana beauty pageant for three years, Golden Movie Awards, Mr Model Ghana, Miss International Ghana and Bass Awards.

The former Miss Malaika contestant and host of Fashion GH on GHOne has also been involved in projects by several brands, including GTP Ghana, Verna Natural Mineral Water and Infinix Ghana.
