Streamline activities of bloggers- Jupitar

Ghanaian reggae-dancehall artiste, Michael Okine, popularly known as Jupitar is pleading with the appropriate institutions to take action to regulate the activities of bloggers, which he claims bring the works of seasoned artistes into disrepute.

The Enemies hit maker stated during an interview with Abeiku Santa on Okay FM recently that the Ghanaian entertainment industry has some flaws that allow bloggers to disrespect renowned artistes who have worked hard to build their careers over the years.

Jupitar believes measures to streamline operations of bloggers will go a long way of protecting their heritage and add to the development of the industry.

His call follows the recent social media banter between dancehall musician Shatta Wale and blogger Kwadwo Sheldon.

The fracas between the Kakai hitmaker and Kwadwo Sheldon began following the buzz around Meek Mill’s music video which captured some important sights of Jubilee House, Ghana’s presidential seat.

Sheldon criticised Shatta Wale for endorsing Meek Mill's actions, which infuriated the dancehall star leading to the verbal assaults between them.

“This industry has opened the door for anyone to approach you and throw jabs at you anyhow. Just as some of the celebrities are picked up for misconduct, I believe if bloggers are jailed for misconduct, it will act as a deterrence to others who engage in bad behaviour to sanitise the industry,” he stated.

Making reference to the Nigerian music scene, he claimed that their industry was thriving because they had developed a system that forbade the contempt of its seasoned artistes who have put in efforts to build the industry over the years.

“When Nigerians meet Tuface Idibia, they treat him with respect and that is what they do for their legends,” he stated.

It would be recalled that Jupitar has recently expressed his outrage about the Ghanaian media's failure to promote the works of a particular crop of artistes due to what he perceives to be tribal discrimination.

Jupitar lambasted the media in a series of tweets, labeling them hypocrites and complaining that Ga entertainers lack support from the industry.
