Volta Hall, the only female hall of the University of Ghana, last week celebrated its 37th Hall Week and it was very dreary and drab.
This year's week celebration, which started on April 10 and ended on April 16, just didn't live up to expectation.
After the launch of the week celebration, nothing really was heard about the subsequent activities stated on the event's calendar.
The fashion show, one of the events students always patronise, didn't transpire owing to the power outage that evening on Legon campus.
But what beat the imagination of students was why the power plant installed for the hall was not powered to supply electricity for the event.
"I sent for a generator but it arrived very late. That's why the show didn't come on," said Anita, the hall's president.
On the next day, which was the artistes night show, students were hoping the event (which is always the climax of hall weeks) would redeem the hall's image, but that didn’t help.
None of the mainstream musicians advertised showed up on the night, much to the chagrin of their fans who came there to watch them perform.
Also, emceeing on the night was very bad. The two MCs- Joni Blaze and Jerome Hayford were ubiquitous on stage throughout the duration of the show.
That's not all, the lighting system was poor, making illumination very bad. In fact, the stage looked very dark and the two speakers gave out nothing but obnoxious sounds.
This year’s Volta Hall Week will go down in the annals of Legon history as one of the boring hall weeks celebration on the University of Ghana, Legon campus.
