IN 2019 when he hosted his first comedy show, Voices In My Head, popular comedian OB Amponsah gave humour lovers a good reason to watch out for content from him.
No wonder subsequent gigs put together by him such as Political Refugee and Popular But Broke in 2020 and 2021 respectively received massive patronage.
And this year, as the days inch closer to December, a number of events are popping up and OB Amponsah has registered himself in the minds of patrons of comedy with the announcement of his upcoming show, Ghanaian by Card planned for the National Theatre on Friday, December 9.
He will be supported on stage at the show scheduled to start at 7:00pm by comedians such as Lekzy Decomic, Jerry Ashinyoh, Clemento Suarez and a host of upcoming comedians is expected to thrill guests.
In a chat with Graphic Showbiz, OB Amponsah expressed appreciation to Ghanaians for supporting and pushing the works of comedians.
He mentioned that comedians are currently receiving massive backing because they are winning the confidence of the public.
OB Amponsah who was recently adjudged Best Comedian at this year’s Comedy and Poetry Awards (COPA) said that he is leaving no stone unturned to make a lasting impression with Ghanaian By Card.
“In the last year, it’s been back to back with comedy shows and I know the score cards are really high. Myself and other comedians who will be supporting me are earnestly preparing to dish out doses of laughter to patrons”, he told Graphic Showbiz.
OB Amponsah started comedy when he took part in a show organised by Sammy Flex on AM Pluzz FM to unearth talents in comedy.
At the end of the competition, OB’s Twi football commentary piece emerged tops. He has since then performed at a number of comedy shows such as Night of Laughs and Comedy, Lord of the Robs and Easter Comedy Show.
OB Amponsah who is also an Optometrist by profession has also performed with the likes of Basketmouth, Okey Bakassi, Bovi, among others.
He has won awards such as Stand Up Comedian at the 2021 Entertainment Achievement Awards and Best Stand Up Comedian at 2020 Comedy & Poetry Awards.
