Not envious, I’ve had my time — Eazzy
Between 2009 and 2013, there was no female Hiplife artiste bigger than Eazzy.
With hit songs like Bo Wo Nsem Ma Me and Wengeze, a stint on Big Brother Africa and her romance with Keita, she was the centre of attention.

Then came her split from Lynx Entertainment and the emergence of new female artistes like Kaakie and MzVee and she was no longer the centre of attention.
In the last three to four years, she has released a number of good songs but they have been drowned out especially as Ebony took the industry by storm.
It is only natural that she would be worried about how her star seems to have dimmed but in an interview with Showbiz on Tuesday, Eazzy says she has nothing but love for her ‘successors’ since she has had her time.
“Oh no! Why will I envy anyone?
The truth is that I’ve had my time and I enjoyed everything that came with the attention at the time.
Fame is seasonal and I admit it’s time for other people to enjoy the spotlight so that is fine.
“Besides, there were other female artistes before me and I don’t think they didn’t want me to succeed.
As an artiste, I perfectly understand that aspect of show business and I prepared for such a season.
I don’t allow such things to get to me because I’m a positive person,” she said.
For Eazzy, born Mildred Ashong, the shift of the spotlight off her pushed her to engage in other profitable ventures she wouldn’t disclose but said had been worth her time.
“We have poor structures in this industry and that has been the bane of Ghanaian artistes because you don’t make enough when you aren’t on top.
“The music business is all lucrative when you’re topping charts and enjoying the attention as a big artiste but the financial flow drops as soon you don’t get much spotlight. I prepared for such days and I’m happy it’s reaping off now when I’m not as big as I used to be,” she disclosed.
A popular perception in the music industry is that female artistes don’t stay on top for long because they don’t enjoy the kind of attention their male counterparts get but the Kpakposhit) artiste disagrees.
“That was the perception I had some time ago, I also thought the society wasn’t fair to female artistes since the men were enjoying all the attention but I had a change of mind last year when I saw how Ebony performed.
“The truth is that she gave the men very good competition because she was very talented and for that, she had massive support.
I also remember how I enjoyed such patronage at the peak of my career so I think if you are good, you will get public backing irrespective of your gender,” she stated.
Meanwhile, Eazzy, is getting in gear for all that 2018 has to offer and will be releasing her new single Power, featuring Shatta Wale tomorrow.
