Nnaji: I am afraid of divorce

Despite probably being the most popular name in Nollywood, screen goddess, Genevieve Nnaji, is yet to find a man to call her own. One name that has been linked to the pretty actress is that of the self acclaimed ‘Koko master’, D’Banj.

The Imo State-born screen diva, musician and fashion designer is a single-mother who revealed in an interview granted recently that she is still single because she is afraid of divorce.

“ If I get married, I really want to stay married and staying married is not an easy thing. It means you are completely in tune with your partner.

“ It means you have found your soul-mate because you will have to be able to stand a lot of disappointments that would definitely come but then again, you have to learn to forgive,” she said.

Nnaji who was referred to as the Julia Roberts of Africa by Oprah Winfrey was born on May 3, 1979. She is the fourth of eight children.Her father worked as an engineer and her mother as a nursery teacher. She attended Methodist Girls College, Lagos and later entered the University of Lagos.

The one time Face of Lux started her acting career as a child actress in the then popular television soap opera Ripples at the age of 8. In 1998, at the age of 19, she featured in her first Nollywood movie, Most Wanted.

Nnaji  considered as one of the best paid actresses in Nigeria has starred in over 80 Nollywood movies.

She has also received several awards and nominations for her work. In 2011, she was honoured as a Member of the Order of the Federal Republic by the Nigerian government for her contribution to Nollywood.
