Gospel singer, Nana Mensah may not be a household name on the music scene in this country but the passion with which he goes about spreading the word of God through music is as moving as what one would see of any of the better-known acts.

The man from Asante Bekwai in the Ashanti Region, has just brought out two singles from his upcoming new album. The songs, Move On and Obaapa, were both recorded at  Jakings Virtual Studios, Odorkor in Accra.

Move On is the album’s title track and features a rapper called CO. Rendered in English, the song relies on a tight, contemporary  club beat as Nana Mensah encourages people to persist  at what they are doing and not fear failure because they would eventually succeed:

Move on, never fear.
Move on, never fear.
Dont forget about your God
Very soon, you’ll emerge as a winner.

The other single, Obaapa, is more in the highlife vein. It  praises the virtues of a good  woman and says blessed is the man who finds such a woman to support him in life.  The song features a singer called  Yaa Ataa.

“I’m happy I did a song for good women. They must be appreciated because they  are not easily found and any man that lands one should be grateful to God,” Nana Mensah says.

He estimates that the complete eight-track album, which has other artistes like Sandy B, Malachi  and  Bright of Mentor 2, would be out by  the end of next January.

Nana Mensah’s first outing as a recording artiste was in 2009 when he released his debut gospel album called Somame. It did not fly well due to poor promotion but a track on it titled Your Time Will Come got a fair amount of airplay.

“This time around, I’m doing all I can to get more aware of my songs. There is no point putting in all the effort and resources to create nice music and not making people aware of it,”  said Nana Mensah  who worships with the Power Light Glorious Ministry at Sowutuom in Accra.

He is determined to hold on to music as his means of telling about the goodness of God and believes God would open him up to receive and record more good songs to His glory.
