Music festival at Franklin Lodge
Jamestown Café and Archiafrika will today, August 19, organise a musical festival at the Franklin Lodge, James Town, Accra.

The main aim of the show is to draw attention to landmarks such as the Franklin Lodge that have been ignored in James Town.
Franklin Lodge is a small slave fort turned communal place on Brazil Lane in James Town, Accra.
Artistes billed to perform are the National Symphony Orchestra, Edem, Oblaa Hi brass band, Nene Narh, Anna Hoffman, Ato and Brenda and Ato Kwamina.
Speaking in an interview with the Daily Graphic, Mr Joe Osae-Addo, Chairman for Archiafrika, said many places of entertainment and social activities such as the Sea View Hotel have been destroyed over the years but with the musical festival it is the hope of the organisers to bring ‘life’ back’ to a place like Franklin Lodge.
Apart from the musical festival which starts at 2p.m., there will be other activities such as exhibition, gallery display among other activities.
Franklin Lodge was constructed where the Portuguese built their first bastion, St Vicente, which was demolished by the Ga people in the 16th Century.
It was constructed using bricks from slave ships around 1750 and it is adjacent a public square where slaves were once auctioned and sold.
The music festival is supported by GCB Bank, The Flanklin family, Alliance Francaise, Coral Paints and Accralomi.
