Jamie Adjetey passes on

I got to know on Tuesday morning through a post by Nathaniel Attoh that one of the leading salesmen at Multimedia Broadcasting, Amos Ballington Ghanney had died the night before.

I had to make a call to confirm if the man I had spoken to exactly a week earlier had really died through a motor accident. It was very sad news for me, but a more sad one was in the offing.

You may have heard by now that Joy FM presenter, Jamie Adjetey also has passed on to eternity. The news of Jamie’s death started making the rounds the same evening as Amos’s but I got to know of it the following morning via Nii Ayi Tagoe’s Facebook post.  Once again a call confirmed it.

Listeners of Joy FM would know that Jamie has been working at the station for a while now as presenter of after drive show playing slow music for people on their way home or at home from work.

Those who have been around for a while would know Jamie from his days at Choice FM when he used to present the Lunch Box between 12noon and 2pm when Fiifi Pratt would take over the airwaves with Highlife Paradise.

Jamie prepared the grounds softly for Pratt’s takeoff.

He was off radio for a while and then reappeared on Joy FM to present the after drive shows which he had been sharing with Ken Addy until this untimely death.

Last Tuesday his younger brother Gabby Adjetey used Jamie’s photo as his Facebook profile to confirm the news of his death and, I imagine, as a sign of respect to his elder brother.

I am sure we shall know more about the cause of this sudden death and also know what the funeral arrangement would be.

In the meantime, I shall join the numerous others who have wished Amos’ and Jamie’s families as well as Joy FM their condolences. Fare thee well Amos and fare thee well Jamie.
