I’m a mummy’s boy - King Promise

He seems to have won the hearts of many ladies within since he hit the music scene and Afrobeat artiste King Promise says he is not surprised because he is a mummy’s boy.

And that should be expected because King Promise real name Gregory Promise Bortey Newman is the only boy among his siblings. He has three sisters.

“Even before I came into the limelight, I knew the ladies would like me because I have been influenced by my mum who provides everything I need. I have been pampered so much by my mother that its not even funny” he told Showbiz in an interview last Saturday.

“Although I have a lot of friends, I love being in the company of my mother. I am most of the time with my mother and that should tell anyone how close I am to her” the So Special  singer said.

Despite the ladies ‘feeling’ him, King Promise who is enjoying fame with his two singles Oh Yeah and We Thank God said he has never taken and will not take advantage of any female fan because he has a lot of  respect for women.

“It has never crossed my mind to take advantage of female fans. I can only show respect to the women  who love my music. I promise to give them more good songs” said King Promise who co-wrote Adina’s  Too Late which won the Record of the Year at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2017.

According to King Promise, his inspiration for writing songs comes from the environment he finds himself and happenings around the world is currently signed to the legendary producer Killbeatz’s record label, Legacy Life Entertainment (LLE ) and is being managed by Gervin Ohene Addo.

King Promise has worked with musicians such as Scientific, J-Town, Adina, Pappy Kojo and  Fuse ODG. He featured on Dj Vision’s record titled “Double Trouble" alongside Sarkodie. It topped the radio charts for weeks.

The No Problem singer who admires musicians R2Bees, Sarkodie and Wizkid says he wants to see himself beyond the shores of Ghana in the near future.

King Promise started his formal education at De Kings Academy then to Nungua Senior High School. He is now close to completing his university education at the Central University at Prampram.
