Girlfriends by Caroline
Television and radio presenter, Caroline Sampson, hosted her maiden Girlfriends networking event at the Casarere Hotel at East Legon last Saturday.

The event brought together ladies with different backgrounds to discuss topics common to them.
According to Caroline, the aim of organising Girlfriends was to “bring a number of ladies together and engage them in conversations and to create a laid back atmosphere for them to talk, laugh, hug, share ideas, seek advice, find solutions to problems and even cry if they have to over drinks, food and good music.”
“We talked about career, social media, self-love and hard work,” she said. The guests for this edition of Girlfriends were broadcaster, Peace Hyde, presenter Vanessa Gyan, accessories maker, Selina Bebaako-Mensah and lawyer, Yvonne Okyere.
“There were 15 young ladies who joined us for conversations over drinks, food and music,” Caroline added.
The ladies who formed the audience for Girlfriends are those who have followed Caroline’s work on TV and radio and also follow her on social media.
“With so many audience and following over the last half decade, we saw a unique opportunity to capitalise on the void in our pop culture to interact with these audiences,” she said.
Caroline who interacts with these followers on social media regularly about their ambitions, fears, desires and aspirations thinks it is important to bring them together to share with others hence the creation of Girlfriends.
The vision and desire to be an echo chamber for the voiceless, especially women, in our society is the foundation of the biannual Girlfriends event.
“The messages I receive from the combined social media following of nearly half a million, have strong indicators showing the desire of the audience, especially the ladies, to engage with on a daily basis,” she said.
The YFM presenter and host of the morning sports lifestyle show on Kwese Free Sport is inviting all ladies who have something to share about their experiences to join her at the next Girlfriends event.
“Girlfriends would be organised from time to time to create that warm environment for young ladies to speak without holding back and also to empower and inspire one another”, she added.
