Fight for progress of GH movie industry—AMA boss
THE Mayor of Accra Metropolitan Assembly(AMA), Elizabeth Sackey has entreated GH movie makers to keep up the fight for sustenance and progress of the film industry.
Ms Sackey who admitted she perfectly understood the current challenges of the sector was however optimistic things will turn around positively when they worked at making the sector useful in the entertainment industry.

She made the comments during at the opening of the Spanish Film Festival held at the Omanye Hall at AMA on Saturday, November 19.
The event was graced by players in the GH movie industry such as actors Pascaline Edwards, Majid Michel, Gloria Sarfo and Oscar Provencal.
“I am so pleased that all of you have contributed to maintaining the film industry, and I believe that much more can be done.
“To assist us create a generation of great actors who can sustain themselves in the industry, I would implore you to continue to help in perfecting their craft and managing the affairs of the young stars coming up.
“It is impossible to undervalue your contribution in keeping the GH movie industry alive up to this point, and the nation really appreciates your efforts,” Ms Sackey stated.

She noted that she had really high hopes for the industry, pointing out that key players are taking action to improve the sector.
“Given the efforts the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture and other relevant stakeholders are putting in place, I am happy and hopeful that our industry would be stronger and better,” she said.
The Spanish Film Festival is being organised by the Embassy of Spain in Ghana in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture.
It is aimed at the revival of the creative art industry particularly the movie sector and forging a mutually rewarding relationship between Ghana and Spain.
The festival which began on November 19 in Accra with the showing of a film Las Niñas(The Schoolgirls) and will travel to Kumasi and Tamale before coming to an end on Thursday, December 8.
Other films which will be screened include Yuli which shows tomorrow, November 25, the Centre for National Culture(CNC), Kumasi at 6pm and on December 2, Alliance Francaise, Kumasi, will treat patrons to Un Novio Para Yasmina(A Boyfriend for Yasmina) at 5pm.
When the train makes a stop in Tamale, the Savannah Centre for Contemporary Art(SCCA) will show Mataharis on December 7 at 7pm while Red Clay Studio takes its turn with Intemperie(Out in the Garden) on December 8 at 7pm.
Movie lovers in Accra however get to see Las Maestras de la Republica (The Republic’s Teachers) on Friday, December 2 at 5.30 pm at the Accra metropolitan Assembly.
