Family premieres on December 2

Family, a movie which draws attention to the alarming deterioration of the family structure premieres on Friday, December 2 at Trinity Baptist Church, opposite University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), East Legon.

In Family, a 10-year-old girl lives with her parents Mr and Mrs Benson who hardly make time for her. As a result, she goes through emotional trauma.

She one day meets a stranger, an old woman who gives her lots of attention. Apparently, the stranger is her grandmother.

Written and directed by Thompson Lordson, cast of the movie, shot in different locations in Ghana include Edward Kufour, Rabby Bray and Peter Ritchie.

Family is produced by BB Production headed by Gospel musician, Bright Nana Brown and according to him,“this movie is just one of the media through which I want to use to correct this very disturbing situation in our current dispensation. We wouldn’t have all been here and sane if the family structures were destroyed.

“Today, parents are oblivious of the immediate emotional needs of their children as well as external influences on them and are mostly preoccupied with putting food on the table. No wonder crime and social vices are rife these days” he said.

Family is not Bright’s first foray in the movie making space. He usually loves to groom talent thus often featuring up and coming actors.

“Working with people in their developing stages has always been my thing. It takes a lot of courage to be able to take some of these decisions because you need to take time to train and groom them.

“Though it’s always a lot of work, I’m excited to be part of their growth process because it’s one of the major reasons why I took on this challenge in the first place,” he stated
