After hours of excitement at the La Pleasure Beach in Accra on Christmas Eve, Budda Man was crowned Dancehall Emperor at this year’s Alomo-Silver sponsored “Dancehall King, Queen and Emperor Crownship” event.
Budda Man took home GHc15,000 cash prize as well as products from the sponsors, Alomo-Silver.
On receiving his Dancehall Emperor belt on the night, Budda Man challenged artistes such as Root Eye, General Marcus, Sonnie Bali, Fiifi Selah and Sammie B to contest him in a competition next year.
When asked about the likes of Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy battling him, he said “They remain Dancehall kings and can never battle for the ‘Emperorship’”.
However, in the Dancehall King category, Rebbel Fya was adjudged winner with Daddy Linxx and Mr C finishing first and second runners up respectively.
Ramatu grabbed the Dancehall Queen title while Princess and Sylvia emerged first and second runners up respectively.
They all received products from the sponsors, a certificate of participation and a studio recording deal with Billy Jane productions.
In an interview with Graphic Showbiz after the competition, Billy Jane, the brainchild of the five-year-old event described the show as successful and urged the youth to come out and prove themselves in the genre.
