SINCE last year, singer Adomaa has been announcing the release of a new EP, Becoming Adomaa.

2022 started with very little information about the upcoming EP. To whet the appetite of listeners, however, she dropped singles In The Clouds and Circus from the EP.

But the wait is over as the seven-track Becoming Adomaa has been officially released on all streaming platforms.

 Other songs on the EP are Smoke and Mirror, Crash, Utopis, You Used To Love and Being Again.

The project takes listeners on Adomaa’s music journey from the days of her YouTube mashups and the success that it brought, her break from music and eventual comeback.

The music is a blend of alternative genres that showcase her vocal ability and growth as a singer, as well as her flair for the theatrical, with metaphorical lyrics that affirm her identity as a storyteller and actress.

While there are no features on Becoming Adomaa, Adomaa mentioned in an interview with Graphic Showbiz that it is her most collaborative project yet, with input from various talents such as artist-producer Reynolds The Gentleman, sound engineer Tronomie, and singer-songwriter David Addo Gyan.

According to the singer, showing the world her capabilities and versatility is essential.

 “This time, I'm doing it on my own terms and in my own way. No more attempting doing something out of my will but identifying who I am.

 “I’m not a mainstream artiste and I never have been. I am Jazz, Soul, Blues, R&B, and Pop, Gospel, with African elements and sonic influences.

“Adomaa is my name. It's time to make the decision to do music that identifies with my goals on this journey,” she added.

Joy Onyuiyechukwu Adomaa Serwaa Adjeman is Adomaa’s christened name. The old student of Wesley Girls’ High School caught some attention on the music scene with a mashup of Stonebwoy's Baafira in 2015.

The hype around her talent was huge at the time with many touting her as the next big thing but it appears the expectations were not met when she took a long break.

Adomaa who is credited with other songs such as Healing Blossoms, Real Time Love, Breaking Me Down is positive Becoming Adomaa will revive people’s faith in her abilities.
