BBA: Baptism of fire for Ghana’s Selly

Ghana's SellyNo matter how one looks at it, the first  eviction session coming barely 24 hours after the entry of the housemates into the eighth edition of the Big Brother Africa television reality show is simply too tough to accept.
Dubbed “The Chase” and expected to run for 91 days, the first nominees up for first eviction includes Ghana’s representative Selly about whom very little was known before last Sunday.

On Sunday night, the 28 housemates from 14 countries taking part in the season eight of the Big Brother Africa reality show were introduced to viewers across the continent.

Among them were two young Ghanaians, Elikem Kumordzie and Selorm Galley who are expected to do their best to win the USD300,000 prize money at stake.

Tailor and actor Elikem is single and he, according to his profile information, entered Big Brother for three things: the money, the exposure and the game play. He has grand plans for the big prize.

He says he’ll host a fashion fundraiser, open retail stores as well as shoot a star studded movie before putting what’s left into investments and bonds.

Selorm (or Selly as she is called in the house) is an actress from Tema. She entered Big Brother because of “the mouth-watering prize package” that she says would change her life, and also because she wants more drama in her life to “spice it up more”.

If she survives first week eviction and others and wins the grand prize, she’ll further her education, buy her mom a car, throw a huge party, start her dream business, renovate her mother’s house and buy herself a car. But first she must survive eviction.

There are three ways to vote to keep Selly in Big Brother. These are via web, SMS or mobile site. A voter can also win amazing prizes such as DStv HD PVR’s and DStv Walkas.

To vote via web or mobisite,  one has  to go to the official website www.bigbrotherafrica.com. log in, click ‘Vote’ and then click the appropriate button for the housemate you’d like to keep in the house. One may vote once per hour on the website or again once per hour on the mobile site

To vote via SMS, send the word VOTE, followed by the name of the housemate one would like to keep in the game to MTN short-code – 1474, Vodafone short-code – 1471 or Expresso short-code -- 1471 all at 70 pesewas per vote.

The Big Brother Africa reality series is screened live for 91 days on DStv channels 197 and 198 while GOtv audiences will be able to see highlights on AfricaMagic World.
