‘Bachelorette’ craze is on!
Getting married is a new stage in life that comes with anxiety and sometimes uncertainties for both bride and groom to-be because no matter how madly in love or well you know each other, the idea of living with one person for the rest of your life can be scary.

For this reason, friends and close relatives spend more time with the couple to reduce the fear and anxiety.
One of such activities for ladies is a bridal shower where the bride-to-be is presented with gifts from friends and close relatives.
The Assemblies of God Church for instance has an age-old custom where a young lady who is ready to marry is presented with gifts comprising mainly of cooking utensils and other useful household appliances.
The idea behind this is to officially welcome the lady into the women’s ministry wing of the church and to also commend her for keeping herself till marriage.
Aside churches, some young ladies form groups where a member is showered with gifts prior to her wedding.
Bridal showers still exist in churches and other social groups, but a trend which is gradually becoming a ‘ritual’ for young ladies is a bachelorette party or hen(s) party. (A female kind of a bachelors party).
Mariama Egala, Creative Director of Funsations, an event company with speciality in themed parties for both kids and adults, told The Mirror the essence of a bachelorette or hen(s) party, a western activity that has become popular among young ladies, is to de-stress the bride to be and also give her the opportunity to have fun with her friends before she finally settles down.

Miss Egala said to make it more exciting and chic, a theme is selected and everyone who attends must dress to suit the chosen theme.
