Zohzoh rides on music for sanitation campaign

An embarrassing incident arising out of a need to use a toilet while out in town has prompted New Zealand-based Ghanaian musician, Zohzoh to record a single for a campaign for more toilets in this country.

Zohzoh, real name Yaw Boateng, will launch the single at a concert at 9.00pm at the Republic Bar, Osu in Accra on Saturday, December 21
“It may sound a bit silly but toilets can change everything.

The reason for launching this music in Ghana is linked to a horrible personal experience of mine and the story of many yet to be told.” says Zohzoh.

“It is my wish to create massive public awareness to force government, individual home owners and businesses to create more toilet facilities for the people of Ghana. That is  something many may be shy to talk about but it goes to the heart of ensuring good health, a clean environment and fundamental human dignity for people.”

Zohzoh’s  song on sanitation was officially released on November  19 to mark World Toilet Day. It has been played on  Radio New Zealand and other radio stations in Ghana.

He hopes his campaign on the wings of music for building of more toilets would reach the appropriate ears “because this is a serious environmental problem here in Ghana and across  Africa.”

Zohzoh  has been based in Zealand for over the last 11 years and has two albums under his name. His music leans toward Afro-beat.
