Samini, Stonebwoy, play for beach lovers

It was a day to relish last Sunday when dancehall artistes, Samini and Stonebwoy, thrilled patrons of Classic Margarita Beach Carnival to some great performances at the La Pleasure Beach in Accra.

Other artistes such as Keche, Guru and Rashid Metal were on hand to give revellers a good show.

Organised by event company, Global Media Alliance, with sponsorship from Kasapreko Company Limited, the show drew an overwhelming crowd from Labadi and its environs.

The show kicked off with performances from unknown artistes whose rather unpopular songs were not catchy enough to get the patrons in the partying mood. However, the mood of patrons changed into that of excitement when hiplife duo, Keche hit the stage.

They set the right tone for the carnival when they got patrons to sing along some of their well known songs such as Alungutugui, Diabetes and Body Lotion.

Though not billed to perform, hiplife artiste, Yaa Pono got the crowd into frenzy when he surprisingly came on stage after Keche’s performance.

The loud cheers that greeted his presence was a booster to get the Amen hitmaker in his element. He thrilled the patrons to some of his songs before bowing out of the stage.

But it was Stonebwoy and Samini who stole the show on the day. Perhaps, the use of live band set them apart from the other performers. Stonebwoy proved why he has become a popular figure in dancehall music when he got the crowd to sing and dance to his popular songs like Climax, Pull Up, Ghetto Love, Can’t Cool and Baafira.

The Linda hitmaker knows how to get an excited audience on high and when it got to his turn, Samini no doubt lived up to expectation.

His songs like Odo, Repatriation, Do Something, Obaa Besia and Iskoki were what he dished out to patrons to close the carnival. Guru and Rashid Metal performed as well.

Apart from the quality music that the organisers expected to bring to patrons, the Classic Margarita Beach Carnival was also to re-launch the Margarita brand and make it a poplar alcoholic beverage among its competitors.

Apart from music, patrons were also engaged in activities such as beach soccer, rap battles, dancing competitions and acrobatics.
