No deadline extension for Hit-Maker demos
Collection of demos for the 2014 MTN Hit-Maker music talent contest is in full swing and the programme’s organisers have made it clear that there will be no extension of the August 22 deadline.
According to Richard Acheampong, MTN Ghana’s Head of Marketing, an extension of the deadline would negatively impact the tight schehule drawn up for the programme.
“Our target is to come up with a winner before the beginning of December. There are, however, definite processes to go through before the final stage and we don’t want to rush anything,” the MTN official said.
It came to light last year that hundreds of demos arrived at the various collection points after the cut-off date.
“We don’t want a repeat of that so we urge all potential contestants to submit their demos early. That is safer than waiting till the last moment,” Acheampong pointed out.
This year’s contest was launched on July 24 with a tag line of Dream It, Live It. Collection of demos started right after the launch.
Interested young musicians are required to drop their demos at MTN branch offices across the country or upload demos on the MTNplay portal. They can also drop their demos at partner radio stations across the country.
After the demo collection, there would be screening and audition sessions till 10 artistes are selected to feature in the 13-week television reality show to be hosted by Bola Ray of Starr FM and actress/ television presenter, Peace Hyde.
There will then be eviction shows till four contestants are left to battle it out for the ultimate prize of a recording deal worth Ghc100,000.
Last year’s MTN Hit-Maker winner was Koo Ntakra.
