Kari Bannerman in concert

London-based Ghanaian guitarist, Kari Bannerman, is in town on holiday but has  obliged to play a show tomorrow, January 16, at the +233 Jazz Bar and Grill in Accra.

That’s delightful news for his friends and numerous fans who have followed his illustrious career from the days of Boombaya in Accra in the 1970s through to recording and touring with the famous Osibisa and other high profile acts for over three decades. 

Appearing with some of his musician friends and support from the Freedom Band, Kari is expected to play some of his own material as well as audacious versions of stuff by other great guitarists.

Also billed to perform at +233 on Saturday, January 17, is saxophonist, Bernard Ayisa, backed by Victor Dey on keyboards, Frank Kissi on drums and Colter Harper on guitar with French trumpeter, Nicolas Genest as special guest. 

The +233 crowd is familiar with Ayisa’s authority on the horn and his combination with the other gifted players on the night would surely provide a lot  for jazz lovers to enjoy.
