It’s all in the African woman’s smile

Some artistes have found ways to highlight the beauty of the African woman and for young reggae and Afro pop artiste, Ages Africa, the secret to the charming nature of the black woman is her smile.

That is what he expresses on his latest Afro Reggae song, African Smile, which was released last month.

“As a pan Africanist and a traditionalist, I believe that the African woman has copied wrongly the looks of the white woman and that could be attributed to the exchange of cultures which is understandable.

“However, admiring someone else’s look isn’t a justification to change your looks entirely from how God created you,” the graduate of the Ghana Telecom University College said in a chat with Showbiz on Monday.

To prove his staunch belief in the African beauty, Ages Africa praises his African woman and boasts about how her beauty stands tall in the song.

He sings, “The smile of yours, the African beauty is pure. That smile of yours. It’s brightening my world” and wonders what is in the African smile that makes it so enchanting.

The mid-tempo song which was produced by Dugud Beats is rendered in four languages - English, Twi, Ewe and Swahili.

Known for songs such as Beautiful, Mama Cares, Reggae Is Love and Family Guy ft. Gemini, the grandson of the popular African poet, Kofi Awoonor said he takes his music inspiration from African artistes like Samini, Kojo Antwi, Salif Keita, Anglique Kidjo, Yousou N’dour who project the African culture and traditions in their songs.

“We are losing focus as Africans and it’s important that as artistes, we use our platforms to tell the African story,” he stated.

Currently, he’s working on the release of a new album titled World of Love. However, songs on the yet-to be – released album such as Love In You, Colour of Love and Love of Jah are receiving airplay.
