Ghana Praise 2017; An experience of worship but poor timing

It was two nights of great gospel music on March 6 and 7 when gospel music greats, Don Moen and Sonnie Badu joined a host of other ministers in a mega concert to praise God for helping Ghana to reach her 60th milestone at the Perez Dome in Dzorwulu and the Independence square, all in Accra.

Dubbed Ghana Praise 2017, Lenny LeBlanc, Darlene Zchesch from the United States of America and Australia, Nathaniel Bassey from Nigeria, KODA, Joe Mettle and Francis Amo from Ghana joined in the praise to entertain patrons.

Even though it was indeed a night of worship and praise, with great performances, there was an issue with the 6pm advertised starting time of the concerts especially the one at the Independence Square.

Instead of 6pm, the show started after 10pm and showed no exception to what has become a norm with many major concerts held in Ghana.

Patrons who trooped to the venue on March 7 had to exercise enough patience to see such performances when the programme started at 10:35 pm instead of the given 6pm.

Before each performance, the audience waited for about 20 minutes for instrumentalists to change instruments and check sound quality.

This according to some of audience distracted the delight in the show. It was also important to note that holding the event on a night after which people were going to be at work the next morning was inappropriate as this seemed to have affected attendance.

Many of those attended left around 1am when only four artists on bill had performed.

The organisers, AMC Events however apologized and blamed the delay to “hitches beyond control”.

The artistes expressed gratitude for being part of the show and prayed the audience to give thanks to God for helping Ghana to reach the 60-year milestone.
Ghana Praise 2017 was held on two platforms: a ticketed celebration at the Perez Dome in Dzorwulu on March 6, 2017, and a free concert on March 7 at the Independence Square.
