One such guy is songwriter and singer, Bobby Kwabena Wilson, also known as Bobby Billion. His admiration for Shatta vividly reflects in the first two singles he has just put out: I Know Me predictably features Shatta Wale and Shatta Wale, which is a re-make of the dancehall king’s Like My Tin.

I Know Me is a jumpy track capable of pulling anybody to the dance floor. With lyrics describing the physical properties of a ‘saucy girl’ who has fallen for him, Billion promises to love her back because “her love is tasty like fresh palmwine.”

A former member of Nigerian hip-hop group X’Mindz before deciding to pursue a solo career, Billion is combining the musical sensibilities of his Nigerian-Ghanaian background to full advantage.

“On my return to Ghana, my music took a new dimension and philosophy especially with dancehall and Afro-pop. No wonder dancehall has become an integral part of the youth of today and with Shatta leading the pack, it gives us hope and belief that it will work out for us,” he says.

Billion in the past released songs with his  X’Mindz group which could not get the deserved attention due to inadequate promotion. He, however, hopes his new material, especially I Know Me would do well.

The two new releases are scheduled to be included in an upcoming Billion album. The artiste says with the favourable attention he is getting now, he trusts more doors will open for him to reach higher heights with his music.
