He was speaking at a meeting where money was handed out to beneficiaries of the fund, which operates under the wings of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA).

Veteran musicians that benefitted from the cash presentation included Abirekyireba Kofi Sammy, Obuoba J.A Adofo, Nana Yepimso and Naa Amanua of Wulomei fame.

This year’s distribution was the third such donation to beneficiaries since the establishment of the fund. MUSIGA’s media co-ordinator, Daddy Bosco, stated that the distribution in Accra would be followed by similar exercises in other parts of the country.

AMWeF was established by the present MUSIGA administration and launched at the Golden Tulip Hotel in August, 2013.

The fund aims at assisting musicians 60 years old and above who require financial support. Incapacitated musicians are also catered for by the fund.

Meanwhile, MUSIGA says all is set for its 2015 Grand Ball slated for September 4 at the State House Banquet Hall. Some of the AMWeF beneficiaries slated to perform at the event include Obuoba J.A Adofo, Bob Pinodo and Papa Yankson.

The MUSIGA Grand Ball is a fund-raising event in support of AMWeF and the MUSIGA Academy.
