The Seventh Day Adventist Church, Ghana has donated 300 bags of cement and a canoe to the Gomoa Ayensuadze community in the Gomoa East district of the Central Region.
The donation was in support of the construction of a community centre and a market for the town.
The church also donated 100 bags of cement to the SDA church branch in the town to enable them to complete their building project.
Pastor Solomon Kofi Asante, the Director of the Mid South Administrative Unit of the SDA church, said that the donation was to support the celebration of the 125th anniversary of the church in Ghana.
He also noted that since most of the members of the community had their farms across the Ayensu river, the canoe was to help farmers to cross the river to reach their respective farms.
He stated that as a church, they were bound to be socially responsible as a way of supporting the development of the society in which it operated.
He appealed to the elders of the community to ensure that work began in earnest on the market project to provide a conducive environment for the market women to do their businesses.
The Executive Secretary of the Ghana Union Conference of the SDA church, Dr Kwanin Boakye, admonished the chiefs and the people to live in harmony to promote the progress of the town.
Receiving the items on behalf of the community , Nana Akyepanyin III, the Odikro of the town, expressed gratitude to the church for the items and promised to put them to good use.
