Church marketing confab for Accra

The first ever national conference on church marketing will take place at the Teachers’ Hall in Accra on September 23, 2013.

The event is on the theme “The church in the market” and is being organised by Accra-based Mithaki Public Relations Department. It would expose the participants, who have been invited from almost all the major Christian institutions, to modern trends in biblical branding and communication, with the objective of enhancing church growth and development.

Speaking to the Daily Graphic in Accra on Tuesday, the Chief Operations Officer of Mithaki PR, Dr Emmanuel Osei Akyeampong, said topics to be treated at the conference would include “Introduction to church marketing”; “Marketing the church globally”; “ICT as a tool for church branding”; “Strategies and planning of church marketing”; and “Marketing special events of the church.”

He mentioned some of the personalities who would speak at the workshop as Dr Joyce Aryee of Salt and Light Ministry; Apostle Alfred Koduah, General Secretary of Church of Pentecost; Mr Kwadade Cudjoe of the Water Research Institute; and Dr Emmanuel Osei Akyeampong.

Dr Osei Akyeampong said his outfit—a Christian image-enhancing institution—had observed that as a result of the absence of planned Christian marketing orientation in the country, most churches had employed secular marketing strategies to promote their activities, which is not right.

He stated that others also saw marketing as evil and unbiblical, hence the relevance of the workshop.

According to Dr Osei Akyeampong, Mithaki is a newly established Christian oriented public relations firm that has core competencies in total marketing communications.
