The event, slated for Friday, December 6, 2013 at Sogakope in the Volta Region, will be on the theme, “Managing Post-Harvest Losses”.

The package, which is in appreciation of Ghanaian farmers for their significant contributions towards the growth of Accra Brewery and the nation’s economy, constituted 20 cases each of 11 brands of the company, namely Eagle Lager, Club Premium Lager, Castle Milk Stout, Stone Strong Lager, Chairman Malt Liquor, Club Shandy, Castle Milk Malt, Club Cola, Club Muscatella, Club Orange, Club Quinine Tonic and Club Soda.

Ms Adjoba Kyiamah, the Corporate and Legal Affairs Director of Accra Brewery Limited, said during the presentation, “We take a lot of pride in the use of locally grown raw materials in the production of some of our brands and at the beginning of this year, we launched a new beer, Eagle Lager, made from 70 per cent cassava.”

She stated that the cassava was purchased directly from farmers in the Eastern and Volta regions through their partners, DADTCO Cassava Processing Ghana Limited.

Ms Kyiamah indicated that together with Club Premium Lager and Chibuku Shake Shake, Eagle Lager brings to three the number of ABL brands that used local raw materials.

“Our annual donation towards the celebration of the National Farmers Day is driven by our immense appreciation of our country’s hardworking farmers and Accra Brewery Limited will continue to support the occasion that celebrates the achievement of our farmers into the future,” she said.

Dr Ahmed Alhassan Yakubu, Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture in charge of crops, said “It is heart-warming to see organisations that use farmer’s products show appreciation and commitment to them.”
