Dubbed UT Touching Lives, the event saw volunteers, made up of about 150 UT staff, friends and family members serving people on some major streets of Accra, distributing about 2,000 packs of food and drinks to people found begging or selling on the designated streets on Christmas Day.

The police was on hand to assist.

Designated as Chairman’s Christmas Day Outreach programme, the event was initiated by the Chairman of the UT Group about 12 years ago as his personal way of giving to the community on Christmas Day. However, about eight years ago, the entire company took up the project, still led by the Chairman and increased.

Oftentimes the volunteers would end at the Accra Bostal Institute where they presented some packs of food, drinks and other goodies to the institute. However this year, the team decided to serve the inmates of some police cells in the Adabraka area.

Also supporting the chairman were Mr Martyn Mensah, CEO of UT Holdings and Mrs Pearl Esua-Mensah, Deputy Managing Director of UT Bank, as well as other senior management of the various UT companies.

These are some of the pictures of the event.
