The Executive Chairman of the US Group of Companies, Chief Godfred Medicine, said it was time for Ghanaian entrepreneurs to assist the government to remove the young men and women from the streets and give them decent lives through the realisation of their aspirations.

“Since the advent of the Fourth Republic, the onus has fallen on the private sector to lead the job creation drive. We cannot continue to look outside for survival because the more we rely on the west and elsewhere for our needs, the more employment we create for their youth and strengthen their economy,” he said at the inauguration of the Medicine Business Complex at Dome, a suburb of Accra.

Chief Medicine who always expresses optimism about the capability of the Ghanaian and the African, said the solution to our development challenges depended on us  because we had the resources and expertise.

“After all we have had industrialists like B.A.Mensah, Appiah Menkah, Kofi Kludjeson and Esther Ocloo of blessed memory and other unsung heroes. We of the US Group of Companies have come to join the league of entrepreneurs who are leaving no stone unturned to ensure Ghana becomes a model for the rest of Africa,” he said.

He said the Business Complex which marked another milestone in the history of the US Group provided a one-stop shop for the universal needs of customers.

The US$3 million structure has a library, gym, beauty clinic, boutique, laundry, driving school, restaurant , a tilapia aquarium, etc.

The Deputy Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, Mr Aquinas Quansah, reiterated government’s belief in entrepreneurship and said it needed people like Chief Medicine to mentor the youth.
