Upfield donates safety materials to University of Environment Ghana

Upfield Foods, the largest plant-based consumer products company in the world has presented COVID-19 personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety materials to the University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD) in the Eastern Ghana.

The items donated to the university included hand sanitiser, sanitiser dispensers, disinfectant wipes, liquid soaps, face masks, Veronica buckets, protective examination gloves and tissue papers.

In a media release, the plant-based foods company said the donation was a continuous support to government’s efforts to curtail the spread of Covid-19, especially in the wake of the second and third waves of the pandemic.

Earlier, the company donated Blue Band products to the government’s initiative of providing for vulnerable communities as a measure to prevent the spread of the virus.

Presentation

During the presentation, the Country Head of Sales, Upfield Ghana, Mr Paul Dowuona, said the company had and would continue to ensure its support to various stakeholders in the country by contributing to solutions that would improve the communities where Upfield operated.

“Upfield recognises the efforts being made by all stakeholders, especially the government, to curb the impact of Covid-19 and ensure the safety of Ghanaians. As a responsible corporate citizen, we will continue to align with these efforts,” he noted.

The Vice-Chancellor of UESD, Prof. Eric Nyarko-Sampson, expressed appreciation to Upfield, and said the gesture was timely and showed how the company was contributing to proffering sustainable solutions to reduce the incidence of Covid-19 in its host communities.

Upfield’s product brands have been the authority in the spreads category since 1871 and is the number one producer of plant-based spreads globally, with more than 100 brands.
