Universal Merchant Bank (UMB), one of the indigenous banks in the country, has deployed 15 new automated teller machines (ATMs) to the stock of 22 already spread across the country.
This brings the total of the bank’s ATM network in the country to 37.
The Director, Marketing and Communications, UMB, Ms Yvonne Botchey, said all the new UMB ATMs are offsite, which vastly extends the accessibility by customers of the bank’s services well beyond the 22 physical branches located across the country.
The move, she said, falls in line with the bank’s future plans to open more branches to encourage patronage.
She recounted that UMB’s offsite ATMs could be found in locations within the Greater Accra Region such as University of Ghana Legon Campus, GIMPA Junction, Kwabenya Roundabout, Palace Mall and Korle Bu. Others are Dansoman Roundabout, Spintex Road, Teshie Melcom, Takoradi Market Circle and Weija Shoprite.
Ms Botchey noted that UMB’s ATMs were gh-link compliant and therefore could be used by non-UMB customers in addition to UMB customers. She further explained that UMB ATMs offer cash withdrawals up to a maximum daily limit of GH¢1000, fund’s transfer, checking of account balance, mini account statements and request for new cheque books.
“UMB’s ATMs offer customers safe, secure and easy access to their funds and to other services of the bank 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This gives our customers complete convenience,” she added.
She further noted that the expansion of UMB’s ATM network was part of the bank’s ongoing efforts to bring its products and services closer to its customers.
Having established a reputation over the past four decades as one of Ghana’s leading wholesale banks, Ms Botchey said UMB was replicating its superior capabilities in financial product and service delivery in the area of retail banking as well.
She said through innovative products and services, customer-focused delivery channels and forward-looking strategic vision, UMB aimed to be an African trailblazer in banking, setting standards for the banking industry.
Ms Botchey further noted that: “Through its Corporate, Business, Private, Personal and Internet Banking departments, UMB is able to adequately address the financial needs of all segments of the market. The bank’s range of wholesale and retail financial services is complemented by its Trade, Treasury and Credit departments which offer unique and innovative banking products.”
