Subsequently, the company is working to begin its services in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region soon.

The Chief Brand Officer and Corporate Face of Uber, Ms Bozoma Saint John, announced this when she paid a working visit to assess the operations of the company in Ghana.

At a luncheon in her honour under the auspices of the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) Ghana, she reiterated the commitment of Uber to the economic transformation of the country and expressed delight that Accra was one of the fastest growing cities with huge demand for Uber services.

Ms Saint John urged partners to help the company to be responsible to the community and ensure Uber served them appropriately.

“One good thing we love about Uber is the opportunity it gives to a lot of folks to not only earn a living but to create opportunities for themselves, the community and their families. We hope to push that agenda not only in Ghana but across Africa and of course the world,” she added.

The President of the American Chamber of Commerce, who also doubles as the Country Manager of Kosmos Energy, Mr Joe Mensah, urged Uber to continue with the good work it had started in Ghana.

He said the arrival of one more US company in the country underscored the importance of the strategic commercial relationship between Ghana and the United States of America.
