UBA rewards remittance business customers

The United Bank for Africa (UBA) has rewarded its customers who engaged in the remittance business of the bank.
Dubbed the “Remittance Campaign”, the promotion rewarded 12 people for either transacting through Western Union or MoneyGram from May to June this year.

The winners, drawn from Accra, Takoradi, Kumasi and Aflao, were selected based on the number of remittances conducted at the various branches of the bank.

Happy Chappell, Salvatore Melarosa, Elizabeth Harris and Afoh Ejirieme Caleb all won fridges as the highest transacting customers, while Lucky Nana, Juliet Gbeho, Josephine Nelson and Gladys Appiah from Takoradi, won gas cookers.

The rest, Beatrice Aidoo from Kumasi; Amin Ramatu, Eric Obeng and Appiah Kwabena Oduro from Aflao won microwaves.

“The remittance business is growing and to increase her market share, UBA Ghana organised a promo to reward customers which would increase patronage of these products at the bank,” Ms Edith Praise, Product Manageress in charge of Remittances, said.

She stated that the promo was to reward customers and retain their loyalty as well as increase the bank’s visibility in the remittance market.

New platforms
Presenting the prizes to some of the winners in Accra, the Managing Director of the bank, Mrs Abiola Bawuah, said the promo was meant to increase patronage of the bank’s remittance products, as well as encourage customers to uphold their loyalty to the bank.

She urged customers to patronise other money transfer platforms such as the Warri and Afritrade, alongside the Western Union and MoneyGram.

Mrs Bawuah also talked about the UBA Africard which could be loaded with any amount of money in any currency and used in any part of the world through Visa acceptance points and point of sale across the world.

She encouraged Ghanaian businessmen and women to patronise the UBA Africard because it was convenient and accessible for use even if one did not have any account at UBA.

"The UBA Africard is a visa-enabled, reloadable cedi-denominated card which is not tied to any bank account and can be used on visa platforms and point-of-sale terminals around the world. Funds on the card can be accessed in local currencies in different countries," she said.
