Sidalco CEO receives international recognition

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Sidalco Group of Companies, Rev. Dr Gifty Lamptey, has been honoured by the Women in Entrepreneurship, Infrastructure and Sustainable Energy Development (WEISED) in Cape Town, South Africa.

She was part of a number of women who were recognised for their inspirational abilities and contribution to the development of the African continent at the International Conference and Special Recognition honours by WEISED, in partnership with the Global Women Inventors and Innovators Network (GWIIN).

Among the high-profile personalities present at the event were the GWIIN Ambassador for Africa, Ms Penelope Jones, and former Minister of Transport Mrs. Dzifa Attivor.

The awards were to put the spotlight on some remarkable women doing remarkable things in Africa.

They included women in business or the workplace who had displayed tenacity and were making growth.

It also included young women under the age of 35 who had made valuable contribution to the advancement of women and Africa’s economy. All the women had leadership qualities, attracted loyalty and respect.

Profile

Dr Lamptey heads a number of subsidiary companies in Ghana, including the Dominion International Petroleum Ltd, Sidalco Construction and Roads Ltd, DEL Estates and Empire Concretes Ltd.

Her unique management style has led to the growth of the Sidalco Group of companies over the past decade, and kept the company’s products on the Ghanaian market, especially in the agro processing business.

Sidalco Group has provided solutions to many cash crop farmers, especially in the production of cocoa since 1992.

She has been able to break the ground in the petroleum industry in Ghana having been licensed as a Bulk Oil Trading Company in 2012 and a Concrete Batch Plant in 2014.

Her passion for supporting the under privileged in the society led to the establishment of an NGO by name Ladies of the Cross International. This is a faith-based Christian NGO, with a mission to empower women to participate in entrepreneurship projects.

She combines her business acumen with her strong religious principles to support many under privileged people in Ghana through community-based projects such as providing clean-potable drinking water, support for orphanages, community schools and persons living with disabilities.

The fellowship has a strong emphasis on giving back to the community, hence it continues to be involved in enhancing the lives of the communities they are involved in, especially the lives of women and children.

Dr Lamptey is a recipient of several high-profile awards, including and not limited to, an honorary doctorate degree in Divinity on August 30, 2014, African Female Champion Award at the South American African Middle East Asia Amazons Awards in 2015, a United States Legislative Commendation by the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus in 2015. She was also inducted into the Global Leadership Hall of Fame also in 2015. In 2017, she was given an honorary degree from the Zaporozhye State Medical School in Russia and was awarded an ambassadorial status making her an Ambassador of Women in Africa by the Peristrofi World Honorary International in the same year. She is an elected and life member of the Institute of Directors, UK.
