Rlg unveils Uhuru
In its quest to dominate the laptop and tablet market, Rlg Communications Limited has unveiled a new innovative device into the Ghanaian market.

The company out-doored the long awaited laptop which can also be detached to be used as a tablet, the first of its kind on the ICT market.
The product comes at a time when competition among the various players in the ICT indstry has heightened with each fidning innovative ways to outwit its competitors.
Rlg Communications Limited and their partners including Microsoft Corporation have been working on Uhuru since last year when an agreement was sealed between the two companies.
The world’s most influential magazine, Forbes, described that deal as “the partnership of the future,” last year.
The product takes its name from a southern Africa Swahili language meaning “freedom”, originating from Kenya.
Uhuru is 3G enabled and runs on windows 8 operating system, powered by a core i5 processor. Uhuru has an Ivy Bridge I5 CPU, 11.6” Touch Screen, a 10 points Capacitive Touch Panel, 4GB RAM, 64GB hard drive, with a Front and back Camera, WiFi, Bluetooth, USB and HDMI Ports and Micro SD Card Reader.
Additionally, Uhuru has a detachable Dock with Second battery, a USB ports, Microphone, Headphone and DC Jack. The device is a combination of a laptop and a tablet, meaning the tablet can be detached from the keypad and used on its own.
The Chief Commercial Officer of Rlg Communications, Archibald Annan told the press, Rlg was excited to introduce its latest innovation in the technological arena.
“We describe it as the product that is more than a tablet because it gives you the freedom to work with it as a laptop or as a tablet if you so wish. It comes with the latest Windows 8 OS from Microsoft, it is touch screen and it uses a Core i5 processor which is the highest in the range of laptops worldwide”, he said.
"Even when you take off the tablet you still have your i5 processor which is higher than any other tablet on the market in terms of the processor speed”.
Rlg, with presence in about four African countries, has given indications the product would be present in all these countries which include Nigeria, Gambia and South Africa.
The Uhuru brand has Ghana’s celebrated radio host, Kojo Oppon-Nkrumah as its brand Ambassador.
He told the media “the sophisticated nature and the freedom associated with its use made me want to support its promotion”.
Rlg is the continent’s foremost ICT Assembling firm, currently engaged in the assembling and production of laptops, desktops and other devices as well as training and capacity building in ICT.
It is a member of the AGAMS Group of Companies and currently has operational presence in Ghana, Nigeria, The Gambia, Dubai and China.
