Ghana's leading telecommunications provider, MTN, has partnered TECNO mobile to launch the latest series of techno smart phones, S3M.
The S3M phone was conceptualised to make smartphone technology available and affordable for consumers, especially first time users of smartphones.
At the media launch in Accra, the General Manager in charge of operations at Tecno, Mr Derrick Nkrumah, said the S3M was a dual SIM device.
The 4.2 android device supports 3G network and allows users to experience unlimited internet connectivity from MTN.
The S3M phone also comes with a front and back camera, speakers, four gigabite memory and 512 megabite Random Access Memory.
“ This is to enable us offer everyone who buys an S3M phone with an MTN Sim 200 MB of data and 65 minutes talktime every month for a year”, he said.
The operations manager revealed that TECNO Ghana was also upgrading its service centres across the country to provide an efficient after-sales service to customers.
“S3M, as a highly innovative and pocket-friendly device in the local market, emphasises how serious the company takes the local consumer”, he said.
The Data and Device Manager at MTN Ghana, Nana Osei Kwasi Afrifa, disclosed that MTN Ghana is investing over GH¢ 311 million this year to enhance its network capacity.
According to him, MTN will continue to add to its 3G and fibre network so customers can take full advantage of the digital age.
“It’s not just about bringing the right device, it’s also about improving the network. It’s also about giving better access to 3G, it’s also about improving the 3G itself. Right now, MTN Ghana has 42 megabite per second tower around, this is unbelievable speed; these are the things that even five years ago people couldn’t dream it was possible. Now we are doing all this.
We want to assure all our customers that continuously and consistently, MTN Ghana is going to improve the network,” he stated.
He said MTN Ghana would continue to partner Original Equipment Manufacturers such as TECNO to develop affordable smartphones for customers who have the desire to experience the digital age but cannot afford high-end device.
Nana Afrifa said the company was also investing over GH¢ 311 million this year to enhance its network capacity, adding that it will increase its 3G and fibre network so that customers could take full advantage of the digital age.
