MTN Ghana Foundation took the initiative following stories in the media highlighting the lack of incubators and ventilators in some public hospitals.

The donation is, therefore, aimed at providing incubators and ventilators to selected public hospitals which have a need for the facility to improve the survival rate of premature babies.

Ag. Corporate Service Executive of MTN, Robert Kuzoe, explained that, the statistic available for infant mortality was alarming and requires public private partnership to help improve the situation. A total of 15 health institutions would benefit from this initiative. The selection of the fifteen beneficiary hospitals was done in consultation with the various regional health directorates.

The beneficiary hospitals, who will be receiving the ventilators include: Ridge hospital, Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Tema General Hospital, Sunyani Municipal Hospital and Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

Ten hospitals would receive neonatal incubators whilst another five would also receive ventilators.
