The security firm has introduced the V.ALRT™, Personal Emergency Alert Device, a small wearable device that works with a smartphone to send a text giving your ID, phone number and GPS location to its Call Centre and one other named emergency contact.

The Managing Director of M2D, Mr Alan Harris,  said at the launch of the device in Accra that as a company, M2D had studied the performance of traditional panic alarm systems which provided only security attendance at a fixed location.

Linked to Google Maps, “we can immediately determine your location and provide the swift assistance you require; be it a security, fire or medical emergency, a vehicle breakdown (accident, puncture, fuel shortage) or even a requirement for a private cab,” he explained.

Mr Harris said M2D appreciated people’s safety concerns and so “focuses on you and your family, rather than your home or possessions.”

“So what better reason to change from your obsolete fixed location security system and invest in a comprehensive security support system from M2D – providing you with peace of mind and protection both at home and away,” he said.

The ubiquity of cell phones has transformed people’s access to each other. Yet, there are still situations when a cell phone is not within reach, or is inconvenient or impractical to carry in your hand,” explained Mr Harris.

“It’s at those exact moments – when away from home, exercising outside alone, living independently with a medical condition – when the V.ALRT serves as a connection between people and the help they need.”

The V.ALRT is an ergonomically designed device that can be carried discreetly in a pocket or a bag, worn on the wrist or around the neck as a pendant.

It uses a multi-axis accelerometer and Bluetooth® SMART (Bluetooth 4.0 LE) technology in association with a software application from VSN Mobil to initiate the call and text message from your smartphone.

The V.ALRT application can also be set to Fall Detect Mode to automatically notify M2D should a fall be detected.

Congratulating M2D on their appointment as exclusive distributors of VSN products in West Africa, Greg Page, Vice-President, Sales and Marketing, VSN Mobil, stated: “Our V.ALRT device has proved invaluable to our many clients in America and with the appointment of M2D as our exclusive agents in West Africa, we see our V.ALRT product making a significant contribution to personal safety in the region.”
