ICAG delegation calls on Graphic MD

The Chief Executive Officer of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana (ICAG), Mr Fred N. K. Moore, has called for collaboration between the ICAG and the Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL) to find common grounds for promoting economic development.

He made the call when he led a team from ICAG to pay a courtesy call on the Managing Director of GCGL in Accra yesterday.

Mr Moore said the institute also intended to educate the public on who was a qualified accountant, using the GCGL’s newspapers

He explained that the education would allow people who needed the services of an accountant to know the right people to engage.

GCGL’s response

Responding, the Managing Director for GCGL, Mr Ken Ashigbey, said the issues raised were worth considering.

He encouraged the ICAG and other professional institutions to comment on topical issues to facilitate a shift from the situation where only politicians spoke on topical issues.

MoU suggested

The Director for Newspapers of the  GCGL, Mr Yaw Boadu-Ayeboafoh, suggested that the proposed collaboration should be formalised in a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two institutions to ensure commitment.

The Editor of the Daily Graphic, Mr Ransford Tetteh, said the media was not getting informed debates for people to make informed choices because professionals did not want to write on topical issues due to the polarised nature of the political system.
