GLICO named top brand

GLICO Group Ltd, an indigenous insurance and financial service company in Ghana, has been rewarded by Premier Brands for being the only insurance company to be ranked among the top 40 most valuable business brands in Ghana for the year 2014.

Premier Brands is an independent organisation dedicated to ensuring that businesses adopt the best practices in branding for business growth. Through its public survey in 2014, GLICO emerged as an insurance company with relevance and a strong market positioning.

Ghana currently has 47 insurance companies made up of 19 life and 28 non-life companies respectively.

Presenting the award, the CEO of Premier Brands, Mr Eric Affiadu, commended GLICO for this outstanding achievement and also urged companies to invest and create valuable brands that epitomise their business objectives.

Among the team that received the award on behalf of GLICO was Nana Efua Rockson, the Head of Corporate Affairs & Marketing for GLICO Group.

She expressed appreciation to Premier Brands and also to the Ghanaian public, saying: “This award is indeed an affirmation that our brand’s relevance and position on the Ghanaian market is exceptional and significant. And at GLICO, when we say we cushion you for life, we really mean it.”

She explained that the GLICO brand remained the most esteemed business brand in the insurance and financial industry and that the GLICO timeless advertisement of the “falling man saved by the GLICO cushion” is an uncertainty in life most people identify with. 

Commenting on the award, the Executive Chairman of GLICO GROUP, Mr Kwame Acheampong-Kyei, said it was not only a deserving honour but a great opportunity for GLICO to perform better to delight and “cushion” its customers and policy holders who had adjudged the group a top brand in Ghana. 

Mr Acheampong-Kyei also commended the GLICO team for identifying with his vision and translating its tenets to create value for its clients.
