GHS Housing wins Developer of the Year award

GHS Housing was adjudged the Developer of The Year 2014, Middle Income Housing at the seventh Ghana Property Awards held in Accra recently.

The awards, which are held annually, are meant to recognise excellence and innovative firms and personalities within the real estate sector.

Speaking with the Daily Graphic after the award, the Chief Executive Officer of the company, Mr Baffuor Akoto Osei, said GHS Housing is a middle-income developer of affordable premium estates.

He said the company began its operations in March 2006 with its first estate, Cochrane Villas, located at Pokuase, a uniquely designed and relatively small gated and managed community of 71 houses.

“Cochrane Villas, which comprises two and three-bedroom storey buildings set against a beautiful hill and a serene natural reserve, has been completed,” he added.

New project

Mr Osei said the company had begun the development of more than 2,000 housing units at the Satellite Junction at Kutunse in Accra.

According to him, the project, dubbed the Korleman City Project, occupied a 204-acre land and it was in fulfilment of the company’s vision to develop communities that supported holistic family living through innovation and engineering through the use of its professional and motivated teams.

“The Korleman City Project will have 15 gated communities designed and landscaped to depict the unique qualities of its residents,” he said.

He said currently the first court among the 15 earmarked for construction, called Willow Court, which is made up of two-bedroom, three-bedroom and four-bedroom detached and semi-detached houses, was about 90 per cent complete and already inhabited.

Mr Osei said the project was designed for families and individuals looking for properties that allowed for flexibility in customising a home to reflect their unique taste.

The second court, Hazel, had already been launched and was now selling fast, he said.

He said the two/three-bedroom detached houses were stylishly designed with beautiful landscaped areas and priced to provide buyers value for money.

He said the individual courts were designed to be self-sufficient with the provision of an early childhood development centre, recreational and commercial facilities and full-time management services.

Mr Osei explained that the project was designed to be affordable to as many people as possible.

He commended the management and staff of GHS Housing for their role in getting the company to win laurels on different platforms in the country, noting, “This award represents the beginning of greater achievements and laurels to be won as the Korleman City Project takes shape.”
