Ghana SME Hub launched in Kumasi
A new business support for the small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs) has been launched in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital.

Dubbed the “Ghana SME Hub”, the initiative is a partnership between the Business World magazine and MTN, with the support of Union Savings and Loans Ltd. The launch was on the theme, “Building Successful partnerships for Business Expansion.”
Speaking on the theme, the Mayor of Kumasi, Mr Kojo Bonsu, in a speech read on his behalf, re-echoed the assembly’s unflinching commitment towards creating the enabling environment for businesses to grow within the metropolis.
He said the initiative was, therefore, appropriate because it aimed at meeting business owners and managers in a relaxed, informal environment that allowed them to better engage with experts on best practices and solutions for managing the various components of their businesses.
Commenting on the importance of the Ghana SME Hub, the General Manager of MTN, Mr Sam Addo, said: “Most great companies started as SMEs” and that MTN was confident that businesses that fell in that category would help in growing Ghana’s economy.
The General Manager of Business World, organisers of the initiative, Ms Angela Ankomah-Boateng, said “the objective is to promote the growth of the SME market by providing a platform for service providers to engage SME business owners and managers in their natural setting with solutions for managing their business effectively.”
The Corporate Affairs Manager of Union Savings and Loans, Ms Yaa Fosuah Gyamfi, said the company was excited to join hands with MTN and Business World to further support SMEs which were the backbone of “our business model”.
As part of the Hub’s activities in Kumasi, big “Hub trucks” have been positioned at various locations in Kumasi where professional and business advice was being provided over a two-day period to business owners and their managers through one-on-one sessions.
