Diageo PLC, the parent company of Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited (GGBL), says it is committed to the growth of its business in Ghana.
This was shared when Otumfuo Osei Tutu II led a delegation to visit Diageo PLC - London, the headquarters of GGBL.
As a key stakeholder in GGBL, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, who hosts the GGBL’s headquarters in Kumasi, used the visit to familiarise himself with the operations of Diageo PLC.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu expressed his appreciation to Diageo for the reception at the Diageo head office, as well as its investment in Asanteman and Ghana which offers employment opportunities in the country.
The Asantehene was accompanied by his chief of staff and advisors.
The Managing Director of Africa Regional Markets, Diageo, Mr Ekwunife Okoli, said “Over the years, Diageo and Asanteman have enjoyed a great relationship. We appreciate the fortitude of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to develop Asanteman, and on behalf of the entire Diageo team, I congratulate him on his 15th anniversary and wish him more successful years as Asantehene”.
“As a business, we continue to recognise the opportunities in Ghana and commit to grow our business despite the current economic challenges. In 2013, for instance, we completed a £27 million expansion project in our Kaasi Brewery and invested another £3 million in an innovative spirits packaging line in our Achimota Brewery. We are also working tirelessly to develop a sustainable supply chain with our local raw material agenda which will see a significant shift from the importation of raw materials for production to sourcing raw materials locally in Ghana,” he stated.
