Campaign to promote home ownership begins

Ghana Home Loans has commenced a nationwide campaign to promote home ownership through mortgage.


The campaign which is in the form of a road show started from Tamale, and has  travelled through Sunyani, Kumasi, Takoradi, Ho, Cape Coast and Koforidua.

The grand finale would be climaxed with a Ghana Home Loans Housing Fair in Accra, after travelling through Obuasi, Tarkwa and Kenyase.

At a press conference to launch the campaign in Tamale, the Chief Operating Officer at the Ghana Home Loans, Mr Kojo Addo- Kufour, said the campaign would feature experienced mortgage specialists from Ghana Home Loans who would educate the public on the features of a mortgage.

He said the campaign also included seminars and presentations for the public on mortgage to create a nation of home owners.

Outlining the company’s contribution to the mortgage industry, Mr Addo- Kufour said Ghana Home Loans pioneered weekly Mortgage Clinics, annual housing fairs, Mortgage Borrower Education videos, Real Estates Clubs on various campuses, the online estate agency-www.ghlpropertyfinder.com, and an SMS subscription service.

As part of the tour, he said the team would visit the various tertiary institutions to educate them on mortgages since they were the next generation of homes buyers.

He indicated that over 80 per cent of the Ghana Home Loans client were people who did regular jobs in the country.

“We are truly encouraged by diversity in the backgrounds of our clients since it reflects various income groups in the society.  We are also pleased with the successful introduction of the 100 per cent mortgage facility which was launched in 2012” he stated.

 He said the mortgage made it possible for those who had not saved their deposit but had adequate income to qualify for mortgage to immediately buy a home.
