Businesses charged to adopt best communication tools

The Managing Director of Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL), Mr Kenneth Ashigbey, has urged business executives to adopt the right communication tools and strategies to help grow their entities.

He observed that a robust business regime would provide an opportunity for job creation and serve as an anchor for the development of the country.

“ Before we can develop our country, businesses will have to develop. We need to be able to strategically position the African brands because there is global competition for every space and opportunity. This calls for innovative ways of doing things, for which effective communication is key,” he said.

Mr Ashigbey made the observation when the Managing Director of Zenith Bank, Mr Henry Oroh, led an eight-member team from the bank to pay a courtesy call on the management of GCGL last Friday.

The purpose of the meeting was to foster closer collaboration between the two companies and to explore innovative ways of entrenching their dominance within their respective spaces.

It also afforded the two parties the opportunity to discuss ways in which they could harness the potential of their platforms in a mutually beneficial way.

Communication is key

Mr Ashigbey observed that the global battle for supremacy was driven by communication and information, which ought to be disseminated in a positive light to induce change and promote the growth of businesses.

“At the Daily Graphic, we do not see ourselves as a newspaper; we see ourselves as an innovative platform that should be used to facilitate communication with customers and clients in an efficient way,” he said.

He called on Zenith Bank and other financial institutions to use their platforms to educate their clients on the need to maintain peace during the 2016 polls, since businesses could only thrive if the political atmosphere was conducive.

Mr Ashigbey also called on Zenith Bank, as part of its social responsibility initiative, to prioritise investment in education.

In that direction, he urged the bank to subscribe for copies of the Junior Graphic newspaper to be distributed to some deprived basic schools in the country which do not yet have access to textbooks.

Strengthening collaboration

For his part, Mr Oroh said Zenith Bank’s collaboration with GCGL over the years had been a fruitful one that ought to be strengthened.

He urged GCGL to continue to use its platform to engage the public on issues of national concern as that was the best way to build their knowledge.

The Deputy Editor of Graphic Business, Mr Charles Benoni Okine, urged the bank to research and make its findings on the global economy known to the public.

“We want to know the trends within the country, the sub-region and the continent as a whole because that is what businesses can use to forecast and plan,” he said, and added that “it will also help make your bank popular within the competition”.

Mr Okine said Graphic Business was ready to publish such well-researched reports for the benefit of its readers and the nation as a whole.
