The Senior Vice-President in charge of Marketing, PR and Strategy of The Royal Bank (TRB), Dr Kwame Baah-Nuakoh, has urged greater collaboration between the Bank of Ghana as a regulator and the players in the banking industry.
“If the banking sector is to provide the kind of services the Ghanaian market requires, the regulator needs to be in bed with the industry, understand where technology is going, understand what the banks want to do and see how it can help them to achieve it”, he said.
Speaking in an interview to explain how TRB won five major awards at the 14th Ghana Banking Awards in Accra, he said, “The Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement System(GHIPSS), for instance, is doing a wonderful job of providing a platform for more innovative technological services but the Bank of Ghana needs to do more in the capacity of the people who work in the banking industry”.
