Bajaj Auto Ltd partners Somoco

AN India-based motorbike manufacturer, Bajaj Auto Ltd, has partnered with Somoco Ghana Limited as its authorised distributor in the country.
By the partnership, Ghana becomes the 51st market destination of Bajaj globally.

Somoco Ghana, a subsidiary of Mohinani Group, has begun operations in Accra, Tamale and Kumasi.

Ghana‘s motorbike market is estimated to be about 100,000 units per annum. The motorbike demand has grown rapidly in the last few years due to a growing middle-class and the company aims to be the market leader by 2015.

A statement from the partners said Bajaj Auto would initially target the utility and commuter segments of the market through its immensely successful ‘Boxer´brand of motorbikes.

“The company is confident that the brand will appeal to the customers through its three primary qualities – reliability, an efficient four-stroke engine with exhaust system; ruggedness, and repairability, as it is backed with timely after sales service.

These products are being sold currently at the three fully equipped sales and service showrooms in Accra, Tamale and Kumasi.

Next year, the company aims to establish its sales and service outlets in over 30 towns in Ghana.
