AWA ordered to cease flights to Abidjan and Freetown

Starting from March 20 and 22, 2020, Africa World Airlines (AWA) will not fly into Abidjan and Freetown respectively.

The move is in compliance with the directive of the governments of Cote D'Ivoire and Sierra Leone to the airline to temporarily seize operations in order to curb the spread of the Coronavirus diease (COVID-19) in those countries.

The company in a statement issues March 19, 2020 which was copied to Graphic Online indicated that passengers on cancelled flights will receive notification of the cancellation via their original booking channel, and may either rebook to a future date or seek a refund.

"AWA continues to operate flights from Accra to Kumasi, Tamale, Takoradi, Wa, Lagos, Abuja and Monrovia at this time. Rest assured that if you choose to travel with AWA, you can Fly safe, fly confident," the statement said.
